Real or Fake Money
This is a very simple answer, definitely fake money. Whether this is for the money during the evening or what people can win the answer is always FAKE money. If you use real money throughout the evening you're just asking for someone to take the money. Even if you trust all your friends it can just become too tempting for some people. Second, if you are thinking that people can win real money throughout the evening. Don't do it! This is considered illegal in pretty much all states. You are basically running a casino without a casino license and you can get in BIG trouble for this. We will never recommend using real money here at Casino Party Source.
Where To Get Chips
Poker chips come in various sizes, quality and weights. If you'd like realistic feeling chips then you should get clay (most expensive) or clay with metal inserts (much cheaper) chips. These chips are high quality and will be around for a while, however, the shipping to receive them can be a bit expensive. The other option is plastic poker chips which are less expensive but also feel and seem much less realistic.
Where to Get Money
Besides poker chips you'll want to give out some sort of paper money as well. Paper money can be as simple as Monopoly money or you can order customized fake paper money. The fake paper money is really cool as it is authentic-looking and feeling! These are the same size and feel of real money so it makes your guests really appreciate the money... This is a judgement call for you. However, if your main theme and idea is to simply have some fun and provide your guests with good action and entertainment then the answer is probably yes! If your guests don't know they can get extra money at the start of the night they will take things seriously. However, if they know they'll get extra money then they might not take things as seriously.
