Tips For Volunteer Dealers At A Casino Party

At every casino party you will need dealers to run the tables and games. You have two options for your dealers: renting dealers in your hometown or getting volunteers who will attend you party to be the dealers. The choice is really up to you, however, we've found that if your party is smaller that volunteers work just as well as professional dealers. However, at a larger party (say a graduation party) you may want to rent dealers or get volunteers who aren't attending the party to deal.
Dealers Vest Casino Each
Here are a few suggestions to help you manage your volunteer dealers at your casino night.

1) Get a dealer vest to recognize who the dealers are. This is also great because then the person isn't recognized as the dealer the whole evening.

2) Tell them which game(s) they will be dealing ahead of time. If they know which game they can refresh themselves on the game to ensure that everything can run smoothly.

3) Have them arrive early to the party so they can practice the game that they will deal

4) Ensure the dealer shifts are short (an hour long) and have a replacement fill in. This is definitely required for 75% of your volunteer dealers, however, some people will really enjoy their shift and want to stay and deal all night. If they are having fun then why not?

Hopefully, these tips for your volunteer dealers will help the evening go much smoother and you won't have games that are shut down because nobody is there to deal them.

Roulette Wheel A Must At Any Casino Themed Night

May 25, 2009 by admin

The roulette wheel is one of the big highlights of any casino be it a casino themed party or a real Las Vegas casino. When hosting your own Casino Party you should definitely have a roulette wheel. Many casino themed parties opt not to have the roulette wheel as it's too much work, however, it's not and here's how you do it.

  • Get a rotating dealer to work shifts
  • Set the payouts to be simple
  • Have everyone collect their own chips

Roulette Wheel Set Each

Dealers

You will need dealers working tables at all your casino games. It doesn't matter if the dealer is working blackjack or roulette as they both need a dealer. Therefore, this should not be the largest drawback of having a roulette wheel. Your dealer will find that Roulette is actually not as complicated as it looks and being the dealer is not only fun but also quite entertaining.

Payouts

The payouts for roulette can often be very complicated with so many different options. The easiest way to keep things easy is to set your own payouts. Simply create the payouts as I've shown below (or some modification of below) then post it on the wall behind the dealer. Also, don't be afraid of setting the odds in the players favor. Roulette has one of the worst odds in a normal casino why have your players face those bad odds? Simply set it slightly better. Rather then 35-1 for an exact number set it to 40-1.

Chip Distribution

One of the biggest headaches of running a roulette table is trying to get all the chips sorted and back out to the players. You will notice
at a Las Vegas casino that the roulette table has at least 3 people working. At your casino you probably don't have this luxury. Instead get some of the players who are playing to help out by sorting their own chips. As the money is all fake you shouldn't worry too much about people taking money.

ShinDigZ has a great selection of roulette wheels and felts at their store.

Blackjack - Rules, Supplies and Payouts

Casino Game Layouts Blackjack EachBlackjack is one of the simplest and funnest games to have at your casino themed party. You will definitely want a blackjack table (or two) at your casino as it usually ends up being one of the most popular games. This is because almost everyone knows blackjack so it's less intimidating and funner for some. This also works great for you because finding dealers who will volunteer to run Blackjack is much easier too!

Here are the basic rules in point form

  • All players are dealt two cards (face up) and the dealer is dealt 1 card down and 1 card up.
  • The sum of your cards is your point total where ace's are 1 or 11 and Jack, queen and king are considered a 10.
  • The players are trying to beat the dealer
  • The dealer must hit until he/she has something higher then 16.

    Card Shoe Each

  • If the player wins he/she gets double their bet. Loses they lose their bet. If they get 21 off of their first two cards they get 1.5 to 1.

Those are the basic rules. If you are a blackjack aficionado my instructions are probably considered over simplified, however, you don't want your casino party night to be intimidating. It's best to keep things simple to help everyone out!

Blackjack Supplies

  • 1 (or more) decks of cards. We recommend 3-6 as your dealer won't have to continually shuffle the deck. If you decide on one deck then purchasing a Playing Card Shuffler Each is an absolute must. The card shuffler really speeds up play so people don't get bored!
  • Table Felts: Casino Game Layouts for Blackjack are a great way to make your game look and feel more realistic!
  • Playing Card Shuffler Each

  • Dealer: you will want 1 volunteer for each hour that the table will run.
  • Card Shoe Each - The card shoe is where you put the cards for dealing. It's not needed but really adds that extra special blackjack touch!
  • Chips for the dealer to payout to each player

Hopefully you now understand the basics of the game and have an idea of how you will setup your blackjack table!

Casino Party Game Felts - Blackjack, Craps and Roulette

When hosting a casino themed party night you will a few main things for your party. Besides guests, good fun and some casino games you will also want good party decorations and plenty of competent dealers. What's great is that when you're decorating you can also have your casino games incorporated into the decorations. How you may ask? Using casino felts.

Casino game felts are simply a mock-up of the real casino game. Simply put these are table cloths (made out of felt) with the game instructions on each felt. They not only make your 'casino' look realistic but also feel realistic as the felt feel like the genuine thing.

When decorating a casino felt you have two options Creating Your Own or Buying one

Creating Your Own

You can definitely create your own casino game felt. You will need

  • A piece of felt the size of the table (preferably green)available from most
    fabric store.

  • Black Felt Marker
  • Black Electrical Tape
  • Table layout for whatever game you are making

You simply use the black felt marker or black electrical tape to create the table layout of choice. If using a black felt marker be sure to pick a permanent and non-smelly marker. You will also need to tape the table cloth to the table to ensure that it isn't sliding all over for the evening.

Creating your own casino game felt is recommended only for Blackjack and War. These games are simple enough that you can "get away with it" or that it will be "good enough". If you want something more authentic or a different game than blackjack and war your option is ...

Buying A Casino Game Layout

You can also purchase a casino game felt. These felts come for Blackjack, Roulette, and Craps. They look and feel just like a real casino and are the perfect accompaniment to any casino party.

Karaoke At A Casino Party

Karaoke is a super fun evening in itself. However, when you combine it with a casino themed party it can give people who are not gambling something to watch or do. It is also fun to have your Karaoke setup close enough to the "casino floor" that the people playing the casino games can hear the singers. The idea being that this is sorta like the lounge act at a real casino.

To run a Karaoke party room you will need a microphone, CD and player. The other alternative is to setup Rockband as the Karaoke machine. This is sometimes a cheaper alternative, however, it can start to detract on the casino theme of the party if too many people start playing drums and guitar. However, the best alternative is to buy a inexpensive portable karaoke machine which is a all-in-one system

Skill Stop Slot Machines

Filed under Skill Stop Slot Machines

Skill Stop Slot Machines are those machines that are considered 'skillful'. However, the machines still run on luck and the use of the word skill is a bit confusing. The skill refers to the fact that the gambler (user) must stop the reels himself/herself. There are usually a button (or more) on the front which starts and stops the reels.

Most of the machines below are from Japan and are called Pachislo machines. They are used for 2 years in Japan and then must be replaced after 2 years even though they work completely fine. This is the law in Japan and many of these machines are brought over to North America.

Slot machines can really be a fun addition to any casino themed party. You have a few choices in the matter Skill Slot Machine, Antique Slot Machine, Token Slot Machines, Pachinko Slot Machines or Video poker slot machines. Most of these machines cost anywhere from $75 to $1000+. Obviously you don't want to spend a fortune on your party, however, if you can get a slot machine for $100 it is definitely worth it for the atmosphere and fun! Remember one of the great things about Ebay in this day and age is that you can buy a slot machine, use it for your casino themed party and then sell it on ebay the next week.

At most casino themed parties the slot machine(s) was placed near then entrance to the party. Having the machine here really creates a fun casino themed atmosphere right when you're guests walk in the door. Not only will the lights be flashing and making noise but you can incorporate into the amount of money that person receives for the evening. Simply get them to 'pull to win' when they get in and if they win they win extra money for the night. It is also a great idea to have a small prize for anyone who can get the jackpot of the machine. Something that is inexpensive but worth winning which could be be movie tickets, itunes gift certificates or even a bottle of wine.

You can almost be guaranteed that if you have a slot machine at your casino themed party that people will be playing it all night long!
